Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing and European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) Expert Update

This event is co-organised by CRE REDUCE, UQ and CHU Nîmes.

Programme

Date: 3 - 5.30pm, Tuesday 27 October 2020

Antimicrobial susceptibility testing of microbial pathogens is a core and essential component of a clinical microbiological laboratory's guidance for optimal therapy. Clinicians at the bedside are reliant on knowledge of whether a microbial isolate is S for success! However, EUCAST has changed the definitions of susceptibility testing categories S, I and R. The purpose of this meeting is to detail these changes and address implications for implementation and reporting.

Speakers include Prof John Turnidge - EUCAST Scientific Secretary and ACSQHC Senior Clinical Advisor (Adelaide), Prof Gunnar Kahlmeter - MD, EUCAST Steering committee and Head of the EUCAST Development Laboratory (Sweden), and Prof Jean-Philippe Lavigne from Centre Hospitalier Régional Universitaire de Nîmes (France).
