OPAT / HITH Masterclass Webinar 4: Treating infections in cancer patients in an outpatient setting
Receiving cancer treatment at home can enhance patients’ comfort and convenience, minimise disruption in their lives, and reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections. However, there are other risks associated with self-administering medications as compared to a trained professional. Clinicians make careful decisions about which patients can benefit from home care and provide highly specialised and appropriate patient education. Key topics in the next OPAT / HITH Masterclass will discuss how to manage HITH in patients with acute leukaemia, and IV versus oral antibiotics for febrile neutropenia in cancer patients, among others. About OPAT Masterclass Webinar Series
Starting on March 19 2020, in partnership with our industry partners, we are delivering a series of four webinars focused on the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT).
Each of the webinars will be broadcast live as well as recorded for later viewing or listening. The format will consist of four different topics at each of the webinars across four different cities around the country.
We will aim to cover both the clinical and academic components of each of the topics and allow time for live and online Q&A sessions.
Broadly, the four themes will be:

- Infections of bone and joint in outpatient setting (Online)
- Treating infections in cancer patients in an outpatient setting (Online)
