Visit from overseas experts in infectious diseases and AMS

From November 7-9, 2016, CRE REDUCE will have the honour to host two distinguished visitors  - Dr Andrea Kwa from Singapore General Hospital and Dr Lawrence Lee from the National University of Singapore. 

Drs Kwa and Lee are international leaders in Antimicrobial Stewardship, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. 

During their visit, they will be observing the beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) program established by Queensland Pathology and used by various Queensland Health facilities. They will be meeting with key clinicians and researchers at the RBWH and PAH with the intention of establishing similar TDM program in Singapore.

As part of their visit they will be presenting a seminar to interested clinicians and researchers in Brisbane.

The two topics discussed will be: 

Prospective Antibiotic Combination Testing for Guiding Treatment of Extensively Drug-resistant (XDR) Gram-Negative Bacteria (GNB) Infections delivered by Dr Kwa, and Improving antimicrobial use and dosing in difficult to treat patients in Singapore delivered by Dr Lee.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday November 8, from 2.00 to 3:30 pm in the UQ CCR Main Auditorium.
